BW Hygienic series tanks with capacities of 300 L, 500 L, 750 L, and 1000 L are tanks equipped with a hygienic corrugated coil made of stainless steel. They are used for domestic hot water (DHW) preparation. They are dedicated for use with boilers, heat pumps, and mixed systems combining a heat pump with another heat source, e.g., KOŁTON + KOŁTON pellet boiler, and others. In high-temperature installations, they can also be used as multi-valent tanks, which combine a central heating buffer tank with a domestic hot water tank (via a stainless steel coil).
BW Hygienic series tanks are designed to work with various heat sources, including heat pumps, pellet boilers, gas boilers, electric heaters, etc. They are suitable for very extensive and complex installations, where they also act as a hydraulic separator. They are distinguished by thermal insulation with good parameters, two electric heater connections allowing installation from the front or rear of the tank, flow directors ensuring heat stratification in the tank, and a factory-built solution enabling connection of up to 12 temperature sensors at 4 different heights of the tank.
BW Hygienic tanks operate on the principle of a flow-through water heater.
Thermal energy is stored in the water circulating in the central heating system.
Mains water (domestic water) flows directly to the tap (domestic hot water) through a stainless steel, corrugated coil with a large heat exchange surface, heating up to the temperature maintained in the tank.
An innovative solution in BW tanks is the use of specially designed heating water flow directors. These directors induce a vortex movement of the heating water from the top of the tank, minimizing vertical water movement inside the tank.
This solution ensures the best possible stratification of water temperature in the tank from top to bottom. It minimizes water mixing in the tank, which positively affects the efficiency of heat pumps, reduces the number of tank heating cycles by the heat pump, and ensures maximum performance.

Tank with proprietary flow director developed by KOŁTON
An innovative solution in KOŁTON tanks is the use of specially designed heating water flow directors. These directors induce a vortex movement of the heating water from the top of the tank, minimizing vertical water movement inside the tank. This ensures the best possible stratification of water temperature from top to bottom. It minimizes water mixing in the tank, which positively affects the efficiency of heat pumps, reduces the number of tank heating cycles, and ensures maximum performance.
FLOW DIRECTORS
Thanks to computer modeling, we have proven that our proposed flow directors allow better water stratification than ordinary buffers without directors or with top-mounted directors.
- Temperature stratification
- No vertical mixing
- Maximum efficiency in heat pump systems
Special Features
- Stainless steel coil with a corrugated wall, increasing the heat exchange surface and inducing turbulent water flow for better efficiency.
- The smooth surface of the stainless steel coil prevents scale buildup and reduces heat transfer resistance.
- Corrugated coil construction with elastic properties, which, during dynamic pressure changes caused by opening and closing taps, causes coil vibrations and additionally improves self-cleaning from deposits.
- Due to the high turbulence in the coil and the short time required to heat domestic water, the possibility of water stagnation and bacterial growth, including Legionella, is eliminated.
- The tank has 12 sensor ports at 4 different heights, eliminating the problem of insufficient space for sensors from additional heat sources or controllers.
- The special design of the flow directors ensures water stratification and minimizes mixing in the tank.
- The tank has 10 connection ports for heat sources and receivers.
- Insulation with a special mat provides excellent thermal properties; the outer insulation is removable, facilitating transport in narrow spaces.
Operating conditions
- BW tanks (300, 500, 750, 1000 L) can operate at temperatures up to 85 °C (when supplied by a pellet boiler) and at a maximum operating pressure of 3 bar in the central heating (C.O.) system. The pressure of domestic water flowing through the coil is up to 6 bar.
